is it normal these days to meet people on the internet or are most of them just wierdos?

I'm 25.. in my younger years, I would meet people online quite often. Until this one time, even after a "phone screening" conversation.. I went over to this girl's house.. She opened the door and my jaw hit the floor. She was mentally handicapped.. Her voice showed no signs, intelligence level no signs.. So phone screening isn't really the best way either. I walked out right after that, which may have hurt the girl's self esteem, but in the long run it was for the better.

There are a lot of strange and unpleasant people that use the Internet.From personal experience,I've found the vast majority of people that I've encountered online have caused me problems.There are a few nice people out there,but I think you're better off in the real world...even good online relationships can be unfulfilling,and certainly no substitute for real human interaction.

Walk down a high street. Go into a cafe. Go to a pub. All of the people you'll see in those places are these "internet people". Most of your friends are "internet people".

I would say some of them are in fact wierd. but there are some normal people still out there just be very carefull what you say to people and dont give any personal information out. bla bla and always tell somebody if you are meeting up with them. Happy chatting anyway.Depends who you want to meet i suppose

Personally it's the only place I can find quality weirdos like myself to interact with in our world of singing potatoes and mice.
And here's a thought, if it is normal to meet weirdos on here then by the definition of normality doesn't that make them normal?

I've personally met a larger proportion of weirdos online. I typically stick with "real life" for personal relationships and friendships. Some people that are online too much are there simply because they're VERY weird

I met my other half on t'internet. People do think it's a bit strange when I tell them, but now over the past year or so, people seem to be accepting it more.
It's fine if it's safe and responsible.
He's come from abroad and we're now practically living together. We really do believe we were made for each other...how else would we have met without it! :-)

It is very common that people meet online, but there are many many weirdos out there. I've always found that they are very unattractive, extremely psycho, or married. It's hard to find a nice genuine person online.

With proper screening it is possible to meet in a safe way in public. Gotta be careful tho
