Genesis 13:2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

This is the earliest documented case in which silver is mentioned from what I'm aware of.

Abram lived around 2,000 BC.

It wouldn't be logical to say Abram invented it though just because it was written that he had silver.

Genesis 4:22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain [was] Naamah.

Maybe Tubalcain was also familiar with silver, he lived closer to the 4,000 BC mark.

Something like that though nobody could possibly ever know!
