In need of some fashion Advice?

Ok here is the thing, im gonna escort my girlfriend to her formal and she is wearing a chocolate brown dress, im planning to wear a black suit with thin grey vertical stripes, but i dont't know which shirt and tie color should i wear to match her dress, i want that night to be really special for her? So any advice? I almost forgot im latino so i need something that looks good with my skin color :) thanks.

Another suggestion I would have to try would be some shade of yellow, perhaps not too bright (like a canary) but more like an off-yellow, with a black or grey tie. I think if you need to match with a chocolate brown, your choice may also depend on your personality. If you're out-going and feeling like you want to be a bit showy, but not so much so that you're showing her up, try the yellow or something a little bit brighter than the deep reds or blacks that the others have suggested.

If on the other hand you wish to play down your appearance and keep the focus on her, then you may want to go with something a little more conservative like a black or deep red.
I personally don't like the combination of deep red with brown, but that's a personal choice of taste that you have to decide for yourself. I'd suggest if going conservative consider wearing a grey shirt with a black tie. That would look classy and would keep the focus on your girlfrien, in all her splendor.
