I haven't watched Doctor Who, like, ever.
But I'm desperately trying to get into it.
Could you tell me what it's about, basically?
Also, could you explain the two characters, Tenth Doctor (my friend says he's the tenth) and Rose?
As in, what their personalities are like, and all that jazz?
So, if I had to type an essay on Doctor and Rose's characterizations, I could, with your answer?
Thanks a bunch.

Doctor Who is a show thats been around since I was a kid. It started in the early 60's, a BBC show. Its low budget, but if you look beyond the budgeting, you can find some incredibly imaginative writing. I was always a fan of the Tom Baker doctor, but continued to watch the Davison (version #5) Doctor into the 80's ( I always did like Tom and his colorful scarf).

Anyway the doctor is genial man, that likes to share of himself, generally saving the day from all sorts of imagined nasties, and righting wrongs that disrupt the normal flow of time. The doctor is normally surrounded by several companions an episode, and up to recent years the female relationships were thought to have been platonic (although Tom Baker seemed to have a soft spot for the Sara charater and K9).

The theory is that the doctor can regenerate only 12 times, so since the new series is on number ten, if the good doc is gonna get serious with someone, he'd better get with it. I was only to happy to see Sci-Fi had brought it back to the US after a long hiatus; since the 90's ( I'm going on forty and reliving some neat memories). Rose is the latest, and I might say, the cutest female companion the good doctor has had. He saved her from death in the first 2005 episode and she has been tagging along since. They have developed a very close relationship, maybe more. Rose is a bold adventurer, but I don't know if she is looking for a boyfriend or a father figure (to replace her dead father) in the Doctor

First of all, you can start watching the show almost at any point. Most of the episodes are now complete stories, and at the most you might come across a two-part story, compared to back in the 1960s through 1980s when each story was a four-part serial (sometimes longer).

The Doctor and his companion (currently Rose) travel through time, space and dimensions in his TARDIS which is disgused as a old British Police Telephone Box. They usually meet monsters and aliens and battle to save the world, or other planets.

I'm in Canada, and am currently watching this series. Therefore, I'm sure that I have a lot more to learn about the tenth Doctor than I already know. However, he seems to get angry very easily and is very passionate about what he believes in. However I've been familiar with Rose for over a year, and she seems to be a strong headed young woman who likes adventure.

Dr. Who is a time lord from the planet Gallifrey. He basically travels through time and space in his T.A.R.D.I.S. (Time and Relative Deminsions In Space). The reason it is a phone booth is because in one of the early episodes the Chameleon device that masks the TARDIS broke and hasn't worked since.

Every so often the Dr. regenerates into a different looking being. Same Dr. but looks different. This mainly happens when the Dr. has become injusred severly (protective response).

Rose, his companion is just like all the other Drs. They have all had human companions of some type, and once in awhi8le, an alien companion. They are kind of like the sidekick. Batman and Robin or Robin Hood and Little John.

The Doctor Who show began in the UK in 1963. It is one of the longest running shows ever. It was originally intended for a younger audience, but it caught on so everyone started watching. To keep the show fresh, when ever they need to hire a new Dr. Who, they have the Doctor morph into a new incarnation. So this is the 10th guy to play the part. Dr. Who always has some sidekicks, like the girl. He travels through time in the "tardis" a time machine that is made to look like an old English police call box (a phone booth). He is from the planet Galifray and is officially called a "Time Lord".

time travellers who fly around in the tartus (police box) saving the universe. Rose is a pretty modern spin on the whole Doctor Who show ... Doctor Who is the last remaining Time Lord.
