Nothing "happened" to them. They're definitely in a rebuilding year right now though. I've been a fan of the Bucs for years now and will continue to be no matter how bad they are. Hey, we had our moments of glory and it was great while it lasted but you can't always be on top. There's 32 teams and someones gotta be #32.
Anyways, to answer your question....we have a 6th round draft pick rookie QB, and although he has a lot of potential I don't believe he was ready to play this year. He definitely shows all the signs of being a rookie (checking down all the time, making the "safe" play) That, along with many other injuries plaguing our defense, and just not being as good as we use to be in general is pretty much what happened. We have a very young team with a lot of potential, but they have to learn to work together and when they can do that and get everything lined up, they'll start winning again.
But I still love 'em! GO BUCS!

Cowboys win 35-31 They the two have not the proper defenses yet undergo in recommendations cowboys have been given some key protective gamers and Josh Freeman on Tampa bay isn't that extremely good yet on his song to fulfillment yet Tony romo makes alot of blunders and that i'm guessing the two communities will throw interceptions and it must be somewhat tight

What happened to the Bucs is kind of the same thing that happens to a rock band. During the Super Bowl all the players became hero's in their own right and could no long function as a team. The coach is just trying to rebuild the team, but the owners need to try a little harder to give him the people he needs to do it.

The lack of a proven QB along with the horribly aging defense has basically washed out this season and it probably wont be much better next year with a second year quarterback and a relatively mediocre draft class this year

The defense got really old fast and the offense is real young at alot of the skills positions. It should take them awhile to rebuild this football team.
