Why do you want to use tampons?
What does your mother not believe?
Why is it so important to you to use tampons?

Lolabunny trust me when I say although you think you do, you really don't want to use tampons, as well as expensive, inconvenient and harmful to the environment tampons are also bad for your vaginal health and unhygienic.

You have over twenty different menstrual options to choose from, using tampons does not make you mature, as a lot of young women your age seem to think, what would make you mature would be to research tampons and how your body works, you would then realise how harmful tampons are and that there are far better menstrual options available to you.

Tampons prevent your vagina from cleaning itself, give bacteria the perfect environment to multiply upon, leave fibres within your vagina, dry out mucosa resulting in vaginal splitting, put chemicals into your vagina that affect vaginal pH, put chemicals into your body that can build up affecting general health, chemicals as well as harsh fibres can irritate or cause allergies, expand adding to bloating, expand adding to menstrual cramping. This is why tampons are considered one of the most harmful options available, they are linked to vaginal infections and more serious illnesses such as toxic shock syndrome.

Your mother is wrong for saying they affect virginity, but she is right for not buying you tampons, although she should maybe have been the one telling you about tampon risks. Those risks are also increased if you are in your pre-teens or teens because you do not have the same antibodies that adults do to deal with infections and TSS, your vulva and vagina are also more prone to irritation from the fibres and chemicals used within commercial tampons.

You cannot change your mother's mind, for the time being it is far healthier for you to stick with sanitary pads or free-flow methods, when you are older and still feel that you want to use internal options then you should look at safer options such as menstrual cups. Your mother is probably the one buying your menstrual products for you, and she is probably also the one putting the roof over your head, respect her wishes until you are mature enough to choose for yourself what menstrual options to use and until you are able to pay for them yourself – it really isn't a big deal if you cannot use tampons.

nicely i understand your mothers concern.. yet once you essentially prefer to apply tampons basically bypass purchase them your self. Your the right age. They dont value a lot. basically look at what your buying.. because of the fact your younge, and assuming your a virgin, i might purchase a tampon this is small to medium. ensure to alter is whenever you employ the washroom, even once you pee. no longer changing it on an analogous time as you bypass to pee can get the urine to take up the tampon, inflicting infections. additionally, you will nevertheless choose a pad or a liner just to be risk-free incase the tampon over fills. I have been given my era in grade 6. i replaced into i think of 11.. i didnt use tampons tell i replaced into 17. I choose i did lol!

I realize you are young but if you want to use tampons then I say buy them yourself. Get a friend to take you or go with an older relative. There is nothing wrong with tampons and if your mother has some stigma against them in her mind there is probably nothing you can do to change that.

I have to admit though I am a little curious as to what her connection between tampons and virginity is. I have never heard such a thing.

Have you tried them? I could not use them until is was 26, I tried many times but couldn't stand the feeling of them in me. This year I have used them only on the second day of my period when my flow is heaviest, other than that I do not flow enough and they dry me out.

I would buy a small sample pack and try them, sometimes with things like this you have to do what you thin is right.

Good Luck

oh dear. Have you any pocket money that you can buy your own tampons? This is not bypassing your mum, but choosing your own type of protection is a very personal thing for every woman. I really feel for you. My mum was very strict,oh almost 40 years ago, and used to buy me these awful contraptions; there was a belt with hooks and sanitary pads with loops that went into the hooks. Oh my god, they were awful. I felt too embarrassed to ask her to buy me something different. In the end, I negotiated my own small allowance for feminine things, and was able to buy my own stuff. your mum has no need to worry. Anything can break a hymen; horse riding, gymnastics, or it can just go by itself. Tampons will not interfere with your virginity. AT ALL.They are a great invention, and surely the fact that they can make you feel comfortable during your period should be the most important thing for your mum. I think we women should use anything during our periods that makes them easier to deal with. I wish you luck.

My mother had the same thing with me. She had this odd way of think that if you used a tampon it would break your hymen or if you put anything in your private area you wouldn't be a virgin.

Its a false statement. It just something that so imbedded in her head that its normal for her to think that way.

here is a link at the bottom.. it explains everything about menstration from young to old

Managing menstrual bleeding
You can choose from a range of pad and tampon choices for managing menstrual bleeding. Follow all instructions included with the product of your choice.

Tampons range from small to large, for light to heavy flow. You can place a tampon in the vagina by using a slender tube (that is packaged with the tampon) or by tucking it in with a finger. It's important to change a tampon every 4 hours. This helps prevent leakage as well as infection.
Pads range from thin and light to thick and super absorbent. They protect your clothing, with or without using a tampon. Pads are your best choice for use at night.
Whichever you use, be sure to change it regularly. Tampons are ideal for activities that pads aren't practical for, such as swimming. Since tampons should be changed every 4 hours, they aren't recommended for nighttime use. It may take some experimenting to find the right feminine care products for you.

Go and buy them yourself or take a friend with you that knows about them and can help you pick out the right kind. You mom does not have to know everything especially if it is something like that.

welk to the store after school an buy some yourself with your allowance or lunch money or something! thats crazy. using a tampon does not effect yoru virginity... you know that. i dont see what her problem is...your hymen usually tears when are oung. it is only a thin piece of skin. i can tear riding a bike, excercising, anything! and you hardly notice it. maybe you should print out your research and show her. tampons are for your own health. and are WAAAY better than pads. a good brand for you to start out with is platex slim fit. thats what i used when i started to use tampons and liek they say "they're so comfortable you cant even feel them!" lol and literaly you cant!!!! ive tried tampax and such but ive always been satisfied with platex. just remember not to keep them in for too long otherwise they can make you sick. (tixic shoch syndrome) platex gives you the information about them already. when you do start using tampons still stick to pads when you go to sleep. so just go buy some, and dont be embarassed carrying around a box! i was when i started to buy them myself but hey! every woman gets their period so who cares! lol my bf even carried them around for me once. lolololol

but buy platex slimfit. they are somehwta expensive, they can be up to 10$ a box, at the most. but usually are only6 or 7 dollars. good luck!

so go buy them yourself go with a friend or so,eting, or have a relative or your friends mom to buy them for you , and as someone said earlier have the doctor talk to your mom about ta mpons whenever you go there again!. its a shame parents sometimes dont listen to teens.
