So you are asking...what?
A Fender Squire (Telecaster or Strat) is a good beginners guitar.
Personally, I'd go for a maple neck, it gives the guitar a cleaner sound and nice sustain...but it all is relevant to what YOU want to sound like.

Go to your local music store, pick up and try several guitars (use the same or similar amp you have at home) and listen to which sounds best to YOU.

Bottom line: avoid all the guitar processors.
If Jeff Beck can get all those sounds out of his Strat, you can too, with practice!
