4/x=(8)/x+4
so,4(x+4)=8x (cross multiplying yields)
so,4x+16=8x (subtracting 4x from both sides yields)
so,16=4x (dividing both sides by 4 yields)
so,x=4

4/x = 8/x+4 (this is a ratio, so cross multiply to solve)
4x+16 = 8x
divide both side by 4 to get:
x + 4 = 2x
subract x for both sides to get:
4 = x

4/x = 8/(x + 4)

Clear the fractions by multiplying both sides by

x(x + 4)

4(x + 4) = 8x
4x + 16 = 8x
-4x = -16
x = 4

x(x + 4)
4(x + 4) = 8x
4x + 16 = 8x
-4x = -16
x = 4

4/x=8/(x+4) multiply by x(x+4)
4(X+4)=8X
4X+16=8X
4X=16
X=4

4(x+4)=8x
4x+4(8)=8x
4x+32=8x
32=4x
8=x
