My outlet had a little red light that is flashing and making an annoying sound... what is it? The power still works. The light doesnt stop if I take the plug out. Does anyone have any idea what this is? I live in a dorm room and can't ask the electrician because No pets are aloud and I have a bunny in my room.
What should I do? It is an annoying sound and I won't be able to sleep with it doing that.

Does the outlet have 2 buttons on it, one saying test and the other reset? If it does, push the test button and the reset button should pop out and the power will be off. That should stop the buzzing. Then push the reset button. If that works, good. If not, it's time to call the electrician and take your bunny for a walk. The red light just indicates that power is available.

It's probably just a neon bulb indicating that the outlet has power to it. The bulb is probably just vibrating for some reason.
Take the cover off and try a drop of super glue on the bulb where it touches its mounting. See if this helps. If it doesn't, the electrician is going to have to be called anyway.

Are you sure that the buzzing is coming from the outlet? Humming/buzzing noises have a way of "throwing their voices" so to speak. Have you unplugged everything and put your ear to it? Does the buzzing stop when the outlet is not being used? If it does then it's probably a bad contact/connection at the outlet. Call the electrician immedately. This is/could be a fire hazard.

Well, do you have a friend or a relative who is an electrician like your dad or boyfriend or something? If you do, then ask one one of them. I'm sure at least one of them should have a helping hand for free. If you don't, then hide your bunny, give him lots of food and water so that he doesn't make a fuss about it and call the college electrician. Good luck.
