ok, forget the answers that the christians/white people are giving. firstly, when you tell your wife/husband that they are divorced, for it to be accepted by God you have to say it 3 times, unless you have said it before, this means that you have no choice but to divorce your partner.Im sure you know this already. Now in any country, islamic or non-islamic you are only 'offically' divorced when the decree is issued by the courts and this is only done after the courts decided how much you must pay your wife, if this is already agreed upon before marriage as is the custom then the court procedures will be alot more quicker then if it hasnt been agreed upon. and to the idiot who thinks that divorce is a Western 'concept'. Islam granted women the right to divorce while the 'West' were still runing around raping and keeping women as sex slave

No! The Uk is not an islamic state - to get divorced in the UK you have to go through the UK civil court procedure.

You'd have to file the appropriate civil and legal paperwork. We are a secular country and the laws that govern us are not based on religion. Consequently, Islamic divorce is not recognised, unlike countries like Malaysia where Sharia law is part of the governmental process and rule of law.

Wouldn't it be easier to change your religion; I don't think that such a thing as divorce could be considered Islamic, same as the eating of pork or gambling or the drinking of alcohol.
