I used to teach high school and now I teach future high school teachers. Teaching high school can be GREAT. It isn't right for everyone- I never had the patience to work with groups of younger children while most elementary teachers would be horrified by working with teenagers. Adolescents are fascinating. They can hold intelligent conversations, have an interesting sense of humor, and there is always some kind of drama. There is no greater joy than teaching- when it goes well you have more energy at the end than when you started.
The best way to know if it suits you is to try it- do field observations in a few high schools (other than your old high school). You'll see teachers you would never want to be and others who are truly wonderful. Go look around and see what suits you (not your family and friends).

I have only taught the lower grades, but my sister has taught highschool and college and University levels. She enjoyed teaching that age. She never had that many problems. They have a tendency to be a little more mature at the highschool level. I think you should continue to go for what you want. There is always someone there to discourage or bring you down. Don't let them. Hold your head up high and continue your education towards your dream of becoming a Highschool teacher. There is nothing wrong wrong with it. I wish you the best.

Most of my high school teachers liked being teachers. There were only a few that should have chosen some other career :)
Sure, every teacher has moments of frustration when dealing with a particularly obnoxious kid who's just done something particularly obnoxious. And -- don't take it too personally; if you're the band director, it's not a HUGE personal loss if your band doesn't take first place in the regional halftime competition.

do what you want to do. only you know what is the best place for you to be. don't listen to what other people say because they are going off their own opinions and biases.
personally, I would not particularly like to teach high school, and I am a high school student. High schoolers are lazy, obnoxious, make excuses and think they know everything. But, to know that you helped shape a life is the greatest experience in the world.

large... so, the position's the DepEd going to get instructors for that? Instituto Cervantes has were given to be shitting on their pants as we talk. that's a diverse era. no one has taught Spanish in any aspect as a necessary situation for over 2 many years. i do not see a situation with deepest extreme colleges because a number of them have had overseas language electives ever when you consider that... yet the different college? pay our public college instructors properly first till now even deliberating including an alien situation to maximum of our public college scholars.

If you do teach high school, try for juniors and seniors; they're much more mature. Freshman and the majority of sophomores are still way to squirrelly for me.
