Yes, people do it all the time. However in order to make a profit you would have to sell it for more than you bought it. And the person who bought it from you could have bought it from the other store for less. If they catch on you are out of a customer.
However if you store is offering some sort of convenience (e.g. location) then it may be worth it for that person to buy from you.

Where do you think the satore you purchased it at got it from? You think they have a DVD factory out back?? Shoe factory? No - they buy stufff from a vendor or manufacturer and resell it for profit. You can do the same...although you might make more if you too bought from a vendor.

as the other answers said YES. make sure you have a tax id number so that you can avoid paying sales tax when you buy.
