You will need to upgrade your video graphics card inside your Dell. Most newer graphics card has two outputs, some has an analog output and a digital output, the higher end ones have two digital output ports for connection to two monitors. Cards from Nvidia and ATi supports dual monitor and can be easily configured using the driver software.

Assuming you have XP & want to use Extended Desktop, then buy a graphics card, and drive the other monitor from this.
If you just want the same image on two monitors, then get a splitter.

we use two monitors on all of our work computers and it is amazing how functional it is. you have one program running on one screen and on the other monitor you can have another program open. very, very efficient.....having more than two would generally require much more desk space and that can be achieved by building a stand for the third monitor ...

hi i'm a telephone engineer for a living and while i'm installing computer lines i often see splitters on monitors i'm not sure if you have to do anything with your computer to do this but the splitters do exist ,good luck.

why would you want 2 monitors. the video card onyl has one output because you would be seeing the exact same thing on both monitors. otherwise call dell.
