I am 33 weeks tomarrow and have been feeling really strange and in a bunch of pain. The doc wont check for dialation until im 34 weeks because he is afraid i will go into labor. At my check up at 29 weeks baby (sono) measured 32,at 32 weeks baby was measuring 35 weeks so do you think if I do end up in labor at around 34 weeks he will be ok, because he has been measuring larger. I am staying of my feet but I have this "feeling" you know.? will he be ok if he is measuring large, not just my stomach is measuring large he himself is. hubby was 9'9' and my Daughter was 7'7 at 37.

I think he would be fine, but I do think if you do get an internal to check for dilation it may bring bub on. With two of my pregnancies, both times I had internal examinations it brought my labour on the next day or two. So, if I were you I would try and hold off until 36 weeks.

If bub was born now, you wouldnt be able to bring him home for weeks as he would need to be in the Special Care nursery, even if he is large as his lungs arent fully developed yet!

Good luck to you and your little man!

Even if you deliver your baby at 26+ weeks, chances of servival are 90%. All the organs in the baby should already be developed at 32+ weeks. The organ that develops last is the lungs so when doctors know for a fact you will go early, they may start you on some hormone shots to make the baby develop the lungs faster. But try to delay as much as much to have a normal healthy baby.

You really should check in with your doctor. The issue in delivering early is not the weight of the baby, but the maturity of the lungs. A baby born early may have great difficulty breathing and this can be prevented by steroids given to the mother before delivery.

If you think you are going into labour early, it is always a good idea to see your doctor or midwife for advice as soon as possible.

Good luck and I hope you stay pregnant for a few more weeks.

size of the baby is no indication of lung development. your doc can do an amnio to check for lung development if he thinks you need to deliver. he can also do a test called FFN which predicts wether or not you will go into premature labor in the next 2 weeks. I find it very strange that the doctor WONT check you for dilation b/c he's "afraid" you will go into labor.. actually its extremely important that he check you to see if you are dilating already, in which case medications can be given to you to stop labor from happening already..

now, most 34 weekers are "fine" but some do need a few weeks in the NICU. survival rate is near 100% but some babies need help with breathing, feeding, etc. and some go home with mom, just depends on the baby/conditions.. not really on the size of the child.

PS if you are in pain/having contractions get yourself to a hospital right now. they have medications to stop your labor, its rediculous not to do so!

34 weeks is early, but certainly has a good survival rate. Your baby, if born at this age, may have trouble with breathing on his own or eating, and may require a respirator, supplemental oxygen, or a feeding tube. He'lll probably have to stay in the NICU for a few weeks. The survival rate for babies at 34 weeks is only 1% lower then for full term babies.

My nephew, who is now 10 days old, was born at 34 weeks. He was able to breath on his own, but has to have supplemental feedings to support him until he learns to suck on a bottle a little better.... Only time will do that for him, but other then that, he is completely healthy.

Good Luck!!!

They may have just miscalculated your due date. I wouldn't worry if you're baby is measuring more, they can usally be off on the due date 2 weeks give or take. 37 weeks is considered full term and if your baby is measuring three weeks ahead, at 34 weeks he could be measuring 37 weeks. I wouldn't worry too much. Best of luck!
