Many of them were also molested as children. It is what gives them the most pleasure.
And please don't get upset with me for saying that - I think that there isn't a Hell hot enough for anyone who harms a child in any way. However, there are statistics out there that show that children who were sexually abused are more likely to become abusers themselves. There are also statistics that say that abused children are 95% ore likely to become perpetrators of violent crime.

I think it has a lot to do with the fear of adult sexuality. The pedophile is the ultimate rapist. And rape is a crime of violence and control. Many people seem to be unable to deal with sex with another adult on an equal basis. I think this fear drives most sex crimes. At this point there seems to be no cure for this so they need to be separated from society on a permeate basis. Castration either chemical or physical is not a solution it just leads to more violence in their crimes.

This has been going on for years, but with the media coverage it makes it seem like it is getting worse. I think it is a chemical imbalance. That is all I can really think of. No sane person would want to do this.

I don't think any of them have an excuse except for their own sick disgusting perverseness. There are plenty of NORMAL people who have been abused by their parents, have a family history of mental problems, or whatever and they don't feel the urge to sleep with children.

I doubt if there is one concrete answer ; but it has to be a combination of brain abnormalities because they can not be "cured" . I wonder if scientists should try to develop a chemical to control those with the tendencies - sort of like a vaccination - IF there is ever a way to pre-diagnose those tendencies .They have no conscience , that's for sure . Sick & twisted .

Abuse and an inferiority complex. Sometimes an Acquired taste but it's usually the need to feel powerful because they feel weak or neglected themselves. A lot of other cases have it where people just can't control their lust and can't get their desired release any other way, which is mental illness in my opinion.

I think it has probably always been this bad, but now that we have so many tools available, the internet, international news coverage, Registered Sex offenders etc. we actually know just how bad it is.

I think it's a little of all those factors you listed along with the curse of sin. where's that scripture about the children's teeth set on edge because of the foreparents' sins? stuff like that.

well i believe , in simplicity, it is satan.
but from a secular perspective there could be a lot of reasons, steeming with deep roots from one's past.
if i had to make a guess i would say it is low self esteem...poor self worth, deep rooted insecurities...in that ball park

i think its from upbringing and running around with your head on backwards. like a friend of mine says its physics -- you compress something hard enough and it explodes.
