Mostly science fiction (Tolkien, Foster, Asimov, Bradbury, Clarke, etc.) but I also enjoy the occasional travelogue by Neil Peart (drummer for Rush).

I'm pretty ecclectic when it come to books. Around high school I developed a preference for fantasy with an occasional venture into sci fi. But now I have a much broader taste--mystery, horror, historical fiction...pretty much everything except romance.

I like books with great well developed characters I can relate to.
Currently I am reading Slaughter House Five:
It is a 1969 novel by best-selling author Kurt Vonnegut. One of his most popular works and widely regarded as a classic; it combines science fiction elements with an analysis of the human condition from an uncommon perspective, using time travel as a plot device and the bombing of Dresden in World War II, the aftermath of which Vonnegut witnessed, as a starting point.
When the book was released, the bombing of Dresden was not widely known and was rarely discussed by veterans and historians. The book led to an increased awareness of the bombings and a reevaluation of the justifications given for aerial bombing of cities by the Allies during the war.
Here are some other favorites:
1. The Wold According to Garp by John Irving
2. Fire Starter by Stephen King
3. Mona Lisa Overdrive by William Gibson
4.The Stand by Stephen King
5. Jurassic Park by Michael Cricton
6. The Language of God by Francis S. Collins
7. Moby Dick by Herman Melville
8. Enders Game by Orson Scott Card
9. Blue Beard by Kurt Vonnegut
10. Sideways by Rex Pickett

Well, I read just about everything and anything! At my house we have a library with over 4,000 books. My favorite types are thrillers, sci-fi, fantasy, (murder) mysteries, fiction, and...everything else! I love to read! Last summer I read a novel a day and won some prizes and awards at my library...Reading raises IQ and is a very healthy, useful "hobby" that everyone should have!

I pretty much read everything except for biographies. I've just no interest in biographies, but I do like other nonfictions like history and science. For fiction, I read everything from mysteries to sci-fi to fantasy to romance to horror. I read it all.

Sci-fi/fantasy, mysteries, adventure, thrillers, detective, archaeological mysteries, westerns, science mystery/thrillers, etc. I have read over 565,000 books in my life to date and cannot see myself slowing down much. Too many books to read, not enough time.
