Think the doctor may already be aware of this, as when they go for monthly check, they are weighed, and no, not normal, but not everyone puts on loads of pounds in the beginning, my 3rd child I only gained 11 pounds the 1st 8 months, and I was eating, but was under a lot of stress, put on an additional 13 pounds the last month.

were you overwight to begin with, if you were obese, you will only gain 15 pounds total.

If you are normal weight I'd say its cause for concern.

Can you hold your food down at all? My sister in law was sick the whol 9 mths, she lost more weight than what she began with. The doctor moitored her closely and gave her some meds to help with the throwing up everything, she is now pregnant with her 3rd and its all the same again, she has so far lost 22 pounds, and is 4 months!

I am about 6 months pregnant and from the beginning, I have only gained about 8 pounds myself. I did this with my first two also. Just make sure you're taking care of yourself and seeing your doctor regularly and you should be fine. Trust me- you'll wish in the next month or so that you'd never even mentioned not gaining weight.

With both my pregnancies I only gained 6 lbs up to the last trimester. During the last I gained at least 15 lbs. I gained total 40 lbs total with my first and 25 lbs total for my last. As long as the weight gain is gradual and your dr is fine, you're good to go!! "What to expect when you're expecting" is the best book if you want some everyday questions answered. I learned something different every pregnancy!!!

I don't want to freak you out but I only gained 4 pounds with my son (he's 7 months old now) and had him 3 1/2 weeks early he was only 4lbs 9Oz's. The doctor didn't know I had toxemia (not sure how to spell it) and its causes high blood pressure and early labor. Ask your doctor! Signs are swelled hands and feet. Do you eat alot of salt? I did, that also cause it. I just thought mine was from waitressing, but guess not. Just get checked out asap. Believe me it was my first baby and the scariest!

Not a Doctor but I'd say no, unless you've been losing weight because you've been sick alot. Ask a doctor they'd tell you!
