The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

Messing with your daughter as in making fun of her or messing with your daughter as in raping her? If it's the later I suggest you have much bigger problems to deal with than whether or not that gun is stolen. Also keep in mind you can't shoot somebody just for coming onto your property unless you feel your life or somebody elses life is in danger or you're about to be hurt. Now if they come in your home all bets are off but you can't take pot shots at people on your front lawn from your porch. I suggest you learn the self-defense laws where you live before you keep a gun in your home from self-defense. A gun is a good tool for protecting yourself and your family but it's deadly serious business and you should learn the law before you wind up shooting somebody and spending the rest of your life in jail because it wasn't justified.

IF you have a receipt of sale I would check with PD to have them run the werial number. That way if it is stolen they won't arrest you for the stolen gun.

I suggest getting rid of the gun if you're uncertain of its provenance -- for all you know it might've been used to murder someone.

Then, if you really MUST have a gun, try buying one legally through a gun shop or dealer. They'll help you through the registration process.

That said, I suggest a better solution would be securing your property and your home. Fences, motion-sensitive lights, better locks or alarms, etc. Nobody should be able to get into your house to "mess with" your daughter. Also, report these trespasses / home invasions to the cops!

Having a gun won't prevent problems -- it will just cause you huge legal issues once you shoot someone and find out your daughter invited them in, or somesuch...

Good luck.
