This is a moot argument. There is no way possible to determine the average IQ of either group. It is a moving target there are always people switching between parties. There is probably no measurable difference.

As for an earlier comment about graduate students being liberals. That may be true for liberal arts students, but engineering, sciences, and business majors are by and large conservative. Also once people graduate and are out in the real world for a few years they tend to become conservative. My wife and I both have post graduate degrees and so do our sons. We are all conservative.

With age comes wisdom. Most older people are conservative. Republicans are generally more educated and have a deep belief in accountability. Democrats tend to be under educated and have a strong belief in entitlement. If you go down south to poorer regions of the country where education is not valued you will find a high number of democrats who are wanting more government handouts and feel entitled to the same life style as others who take advantage of the education given by the government, who then work hard and prosper. The older you get the smarter you become.

Republicans and Democrats and Independents and others, for that matter, are all Americans. This makes them the smartest dang people on earth. Of course, each party has its set of idiots that will claim the other is full of idiots and point out the idiots in that party, but all are equally smart/dumb. To insinute otherwise is to invite division.

To anyone who thinks otherwise. :-P

And you left out a comma.

You can't say one or the other; large business is usually more conservative, and intellectuals (in education) are often more liberal. Both are arguable intelligent. I have noticed that as people get older they tend to become more conservative. I think this is because the Republican party holds people accountible for their own behavior and isn't about handouts. People work hard for their money and don't want to be taxed significantly more than those that aren't working as hard (understandibly how hard someone works is not always a factor). They hate to think that all their lives they've worked for something and the government is going to take it through taxes or through the death/estate tax. Anyway, no one knows.

I truthfully have on no account in my grownup existence witnessed such bias with the help of the media throughout the time of an election cycle. They needless to say and shamelessly despised the Clinton's and that they have been going to furnish Palin an identical scientific care. did not artwork. they have given Obama 80% of the coverage, 20% for McCain. What do you're making of that? good journalism or finished, irresponsible bias? This time the media is going to could take it to heart. Few human beings have not observed the lopsided coverage. in case you watch CSPAN in any respect, you will possibly have observed all the conventions held with the help of human beings in journalism speaking on the subject of the mess ups of journalism through fact 9/11 and by this election as nicely as earlier the conflict in Iraq. The media is not an self sustaining source of advice. that is swayed with the help of its owners.

I am smarter than most the Dems I know, but will admit there are some smarter than I am. Intelligence of such a large group cannot be accurately measured.

If you take a snapshot today, I would say the Republican politicians are smarter or at least more devious, and Republican voters are much less informed.

The republican leadership is much smarter at manipulating voters, but far less smart at governing the country. They get F's in foreign policy and in fiscal "restraint"

Democrats are much better at governing. They would have an intelligent foreign policy like Clinton and Reagan/Bush. They would cut deficit spending and return to the pay as you go system.

The rank and file of both parties are a mixed bag of smart and not so smart. More republicans have been subjected to heavy doses of propaganda and talking points.

Republicans are wealthy, educated, and powerful.

Democrats are less likely to work, get an education, and consistently lose elections since '94

I just know the facts, I don't know who's smarter
