The poor blacks dont mention slavery. If they did, they would understand themselves enough to stop being ignorant
It's the educated ones that are dwelling on it
If it's wrong to dwell on the past, why do you insist on dwelling about Jesus and what he so called did?

Precious, if the issue is dwelling on the past, Jesus DID live in the past
If the issue is not dwelling on the past, why aren't whites being honest about what they're really upset about?

I think it is stupid because slavery has not been around in the US since the 1860s.

To start off I am white. As far as I'm concerned being successful does not make a person exempt from being ignorant. I am so tired of hearing about slavery. True it was a horrible thing that did accure. But theres nothing anybody can do about it now. So why dwell on it unless you just want people to feel sorry for you. Larry Elder is an extremely well educated an successful black man. Whenever I've heard him mention slavery and all that stuff he's usually telling other blacks to quit using as an excuse . Try listening to him sometime. He's a damn good human being and very intellegent as well as entertaining.

I personally don't dwell on Slavery but I do be leave its a past history and should be in the history books at or schools. I also agree with you on some points made here but disagree that your a Racist. You had something to say and you said it nothing wrong with that. To many people are afraid of the truth and in a lot of cases can not speak the truth. Like most crimes are commented by blacks. Most troubled neighbor hoods are considered to be black neighborhoods. Better known as in the GETO witch is considered by a lot of young blacks to be cool. When being a thug stops being cool to kids we all will be better off. Most people have been taught by parents or schools that anything like this is racist and its not. Its just facts and people communicating.

It would be sad if everyone dwells on the past. There would be no forward progression. Those, particularly the Jews, could dwell on what happened during world war 2. The Christians could dwell on what the Catholics did in early roman time. If I were a poor black person, I would be upset at any wealthy black person who always talked about slavery. I would want to see them contribute a lot of their money to help poor blacks. The Japanese attacked us in Pearl Harbor. Now they dominate the US automobile market, and most other products in our country. Still certain Japanese complain about our dropping the bomb. Do you hear much complaining from the Americans who lost their jobs to Japanese companies?

I don't agree with you. I'm not white or a Christian, but I do know that they believe Jesus is alive in Heaven and will come back for his people one day. So that makes Jesus a part of the past, present, and future in their eyes. Slavery is something that happened many years ago that did not happen to anyone alive today here in America. No one today is effected by it in anyway besides perhaps feeling sorrow or anger from it happening. Personally I think it all is wrong. I just wanted to say that I don't get your point. Have a great hate free day.

I don't care about dwelling on the past, as long as people don't get bitter about it, or continue to blame whites today for slavery. In fact, I don't think anyone has a right to feel bitter about something that never happened to them. Most of the people that owned slaves died long ago, and slavery has nothing to do with african americans living today, with the possible exception of older seniors who had to live through racism. It seems like for a lot of people, their grandparents still have bitter feelings toward white people for the racism they had to endure. I can see why, but I don't agree with how those grandparents pass on the stories to their children, who then grow to feel like whites are still just as racist and immoral as they were decades ago.
Another sad thing is those who blame everything on racism that often isn't there. It's like paranoia.

This is completely off the subject matter for the question but I couldn't help wanting to share it with everyone. The slavery aspect got me thinking about bringing back Indentured Servitude for the illegals wanting to come over in a legal manner.

I think today's blacks should get over it. Slavery was abolished a hundred forty-four years ago in these United States. Bigotry, unfortunately, has not been abolished, racism still affects the lives of us all. But do not demand of me financial reparations for the enslavement of your ancestors - over three hundred thousand of my ancestors died to free your ancestors. The debt, therefore, is paid in full - in blood. Let's work together to teach all peoples of the futility, foolishess and ugliness of racism. That is the way to honor and remember your ancestors as well as mine.

I don't care if they are black or white, sucessful or not. Everyone in America has an equal chance to succeed, and no one should dwell on something that long ago. No one alive today owned a slave, and no one alive today was a slave, at least in America
