deltech is correct. The sensor is mounted on the axle extension housing on the right side of the transmission.
It may have gone bad on your car if you are having speedometer problems and a check engine light, but there can be other problems also. The speed sensor sends a pulse signal to the engine control module (about 4002 pulses a miles),and the engine control module sends a speed signal to the instrument cluster. Problems can occur anywhere along this signal path.

Go to your local library and look up your car they should have a diagram for your car. If I had to guess it could be mounted on the passenger side on the tranny it will look like a plastic block with wires coming out of it and it should be right on top of the universal axle. that's where it was on my old grand prix.

Its on the right side where RH axle comes out of trans, sort of on the top with one bolt holding it in.It has 2 wire connector plugged into it.
