Have you ever heard of Potters Field? It's the area of a graveyard where the poor and indigent are buried. Every town has one. When a dead person is not claimed by friends or family, the body is given a cheap burial (respectful but no frills), in some places now the remains are cremated, and the grave is marked with a simple metal marker so it can be identified if the remains are claimed at a later date.

How sad to think about. But interesting at the same time. The city morgue probably comes to claim them.

That is a good question. Maybe they just discard them in a box under the ground or something.

When they are found, they are handled by authorities who bury them in unmarked graves, (if there is no ID to be found) in pine boxes.

I have wondered that also. Common is probably right about the city morgue.

There used to be a place called a potters cemetery. I think they still exist.
