A lot of silly answers here. It does reac slightly to make calcium sulphate. Calcium sulphate is only slightly soluble and coats the limestone making a barrier between the limestone and the acid.

When dilute sulphuric acid is added to limestone (or marble for that matter) there is a slight reaction which quickly stops as the calcium sulphate formed is insoluble and coats the limestone preventing further sulphuric acid from reaching it.

Of course it reacts. A possibility is that conc H2SO4 creates a layer of CaSO4 on the limestone, slowing down the reaction. Nevertheless, it would still proceed, because CaSO4 gets converted to calcium bisulfate and eats away at the limestone beneath it and so on.

that is impossible because sulferic acid is a strong acid.and limestone (CaCO3) or calcium carbonate react with acids and there will be release of gases.
the reaction is:
CaCO3+H2SO4 ---->CaSO4 + H2O+CO2

It does react. I suspect it will react more slowly if it's fairly pure, simply because of the higher viscosity and lack of ability to form hydronium ions (due to a lack of water).

Acid+alkali,one neutralises the other

Ja ja. Who told that? I hope not your chemistry teacher.

Here is the reaction:

H2SO4 + CaCO3 --> CaSO4.H2O + CO2

The products are gypsum and carbon dioxide.
