blood test cannot determain a baby's sex. You have to have an ultrasound done and they are at 20 weeks. I think she is telling you a lie.

The gender is determined at conception. There was a blood test that claimed could tell the gender of the baby, I haven't heard much about it lately though. There was talk about it not being very effective. The concept was that mothers share their blood supply with the baby and there is an amount of the baby's DNA in the mothers blood. So they check the mothers blood and if it has Y chromosomes (because women only have X) then the baby is a boy if not then its a girl. I doubt that is what happened here though, a clinic I don't think would give that kind of test, she probably just changed her mind and that is her right.

Also the fact that she isn't showing yet means nothing, I didn't show until I was over six months pregnant, it all depends on the woman.

sex of an embryo is determined at conception, all fetuses are girls, it isnt until about the 14 week of pregnancy that sexual organs develop. If its a girl, things stay the same, if its a boy, Y- chromosomes kick in and thus a boy will be born. You might but able to learn your babys' gender at about 24-32 weeks, there will be less flipping and turning and baby might actually keep still so the ultrasound Tech could get a better look.

She's probably lying, doesnt sound like a Dr would put off an abortion b/c of blood work, as long as the patient is able to tolerate the local/general pain medicine, then its not a problem.

The sex of a child is determined at conception. Women only have x chormosomes, men have x and y. Depending on the chromosome that happens to be being carried by the sperm at fertilization, you end up with a girl or a boy. It is absolutely possible to determine this information with blood tests on the baby. However, it's unlikely that unless they did an amniocentisis that they would be able to tell that. Her own blood sample would not contain anything to tell this information.

She could only know the sex of the child if she had an ultrasound which would reveal it. Depending on how far along she is, she would have to wait before an ultrasound could determine the sex.

They can also do what is called an amniocentesis which may or may not determine the sex, just if the child is healthy. I have given you the most accurate information based on my medical knowledge.

Let it go. You have broken up with her and since it is not your child, just try not to worry about it. Sounds like she is playing you.

As others have said, genetic sex is determined at conception.

The whole story with the abortion / it's a girl / bloodwork sounds like B.S. to me.

What is she trying to get from you? Is she trying to somehow convince you it's your baby even though you didn't have sex with her?

She sounds like a real flake. It's not my business but I'd advise you: don't get back together with her, no matter what! There are plenty of good gals out there that won't try to get you all emotionally mixed up in a pregnancy after having dumped you!

Also, if you start dating her again, she could get grounds to claim you're in a supportive relationship and then you could get stuck with child support by the state -- it won't matter if the kid is yours or not. Watch out.

I'm sympathetic -- good luck.

soon as the sperm hits the egg. the male chromosomes decides the sex.
seeing the sex by ultra sound may never happen or can show early, but not too early.
something sounds out of whack with the whole story.
get involved with a parents rights or fathers rights organization. ask planned parenthood for info and help and counseling too.
get a lot of info and advice from official sources!

not wearing a condom felt good enough to have this or aides happen?!?

I dont think thats possible, First off i dont think they will blood test the sex of the baby. And to say its twice as small as it should be? That doesnt make sense. The only way to know those things is through ultrasounds. But thats just my guess, i think shes telling you lies....

there is no way to tell the sex of the child with bloodwork it takes an ultrasound to do that- normally done when about 20 weeks pregnant!!! It does take a while to show, it doesn't happen overnight.

The sex of the baby is decided at conception by the males's sperm. They can't tell the sex of the baby from taking the mothers blood anyways. You are going to ahve to wait till its born to do a DNA test.
