She only needs to wait about 2-3 hours before she can nurse again.

Current research says that occasional use of alcohol (1-2 drinks) is not harmful to the nursing baby. The American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Drugs classifies alcohol (ethanol) as a “Maternal Medication Usually Compatible With Breastfeeding.”

Less than 2% of the alcohol consumed by the mother reaches her blood and milk. Alcohol is eliminated from the milk in the same way it is eliminated from the blood. If her head is clear, her milk is too. If she feels sober enough to drive, she is sober enough to nurse.

Actually drinking a beer a day is great for breastmilk production. Doctors recommend it... The yeast in beer helps with the fermentation process of milk production... As long as its only a beer a day, theres no problem. You wont get enough alcohol through your breast milk to get to the baby.

Honestly, it's impossible to keep all harmful influences away from our babies. A couple of beers will not affect the breast milk so badly that your baby is harmed.

My wife and I went to a New Years party. She had bourbon. The baby was fine, but he slept all the next day.
