First of all, you need to establish a job. Second, when you go and look for a place inform the people of your situation. Most honest people will understand and give you a chance. I don't know what the reasons are behind the eviction but explain what happened with that as well. Make sure you let them know everything so they can check it out. Most rental companies want pay stubs from the past 3 months so be prepared to submit that as well. Good luck and GOD bless you.

It's hard to answer this question when you didn't say what area you live in. Some people don't care about evictions whereas others won't even consider your application. Have you applied for public or rent based housing? There are usually a couple of them in any city. Go to HRS and make inquires about subsidized housing.

You probably need 3 months rent in advance, so that they know you will not go delinquent on the rent. And a huge deposit.
I'm sorry, I know it's hard, but If you can be straight with a new landlord, face-to-face about the eviction, youmight convince him/her to give you a chance. Be sure have a confirmable job, and then do whatever you have to do to make sure you don't put another landlord in that position.

Go to a shelter in the meantime, you cannot have a family living on the street.. I know that you probably don't want to, but think of your family first and pride last.
Then start scouring the newspapers. The people who run the shelters usually have listings for apartments.

I'm sorry to hear this is happening to you and your family. Is there a local homeless shelter in the area? Do they have any leads on where you can get a housing advocate? They may know some ideas on what you can do to find a job.
Good luck to you!

contact a section 8 housing landlord. A realtor may be able to help you or your local DCFS or Dept of Housing. Usually very little if any security is required and rent amounts are very small.
