Does anyone know what Toxiema is? And how bad are C-Sections. I am swelling pretty bad in my feet.... and hands. I go to the doctor tomorrow and I was wondering if the chances are high that my doctor will send me across the street to the Hospital for the C-Section.....?

I had pre-eclampsia with all three of my pregnancies. It is high blood pressure with protein in the urine. It causes severe swelling, headaches, seeing spots. I was induced all three times, and I never had a c-section. They usually only do a c-section if your blood pressure will not come down, even with medication (magnesium sulfate). You will be fine. Try not to worry too much, it only makes your blood pressure higher. At this point, your baby will be fine. Look forward to that!

toxemia i believe is high blood pressure do to pregnancy. A C-section can be scary if your not expecting it. I ended up having to have one and to be honest, the healing process takes a little longer and you are sore for a while but if you have time to prepare for it don't get upset. the way they do it these days the only people that will ever know unless you tell them is you and your spouse. For the last part he may send you to the hospital and start you on med to control the toxemia but may wait a little longer to do the c-section if the med work. Keep the baby in as long as they can.

C-sections are surgery, but they are not horrible. As long as it the baby is not in danger, you can probably be awake to see your baby when it's born! I was awake for both my c-sections. The first one was frightening because I never expected to have one, but the second was easier. Even if you are awake, you will not feel pain, and 37 weeks is probably a nice healthy, slightly small baby. Good luck.

I had a C-section with my first one. And trust me, I thank GOD for modern medicine. I don't think I would have been able to stand the whole birth canal thing. Now I'm pregnant with my second, and I am opting to have another C-Section. You can barely see the scar anymore. Don't worry about it. You'll bo ok.
