Thanks - I knew it was Baron and I accidentally put down the Jewish abbreviation.

Diamond J - asking for differences or similiarities is an appropriate question.
Benny Hill engaged in the same type of comedy as Cohen except he knew where to draw the line (and cultural norms were different in Hill's time vs. today). Both men were great British comedians. The question really asks what would prevent Cohen from becoming as famous (or more famous) than Hill.

Jo - a very good answer. Remember that Borat has already been around for a number of years thanks to the "Da Ali G Show" and Ali G and Bruno are other creations of Sasha Baron Cohen. I doubt that he's become overexposed - but he has made a movie while Benny Hill didn't have that opportunity. Benny Hill was more skit oriented (think Saturday Night Live or Mad TV) but he knew tasteful satire. Borat has received good critiques from those who understand where he's coming from. I like these answers - keep them coming.

I think that Sasha runs the risk of becoming over exposed. His humour is probably as sexist as Benny Hill's but also racist. While he does so "tongue in cheek" he nonetheless exploits humor that puts down women and racial groups and tries to get away with it all in the name of humor. Problem is, like violence, people can become desensitised and after awhile it all loses its shock value. I think that Sasha has overstayed his 15 minutes of fame. Enough, already!
I would like to add that this is a very good question because it not only compares two British comics but asks the question, when does one draw the line in comic performances. Hill, though sexist, did draw lines. Sasha has had more international exposure. His humor exploits stereotypes and almost "gives permission" to audiences to engage in very hostile humour. While he is gifted and quite funny at times, I don't see him with any staying power. I think that he is a novelty right now but I can predict that he will wear out his welcome as he wears on people's nerves.

Differences: One is talll and thin, the other is short and fat.
Similiarities: I didn't get Benny Hill, and I don't get Sasha Ben Cohen.

I don't think he is. There is one big difference. Benny Hill wasn't funny. The only similarities I see is that they both have an 'e' in their name and they're male.

Benny Hill used to be historic-tuition,vast burlesque, while Mr. Bean used to be left-discipline,understated madness. Both are hilarious, however one cannot quite examine them as they're so exclusive.

No way. Benny Hill, while his humor was risque, was not crude.
