I really wanted to be pregnant and it came up postive straight away, I haven't had any periods and I have been feeling sick although that stopped a couple of weeks ago.
I just don't feel like its real I keep getting this horrible feeling that I'm going to go to the midwives on saturday and shes going to say I'm not pregnant. Why am I feeling like its not real

I felt exactly the same as you. When I went for my 12 week scan and I expected them to say that there was no baby in my stomach. Until you can feel the baby move or start to look bigger you won't believe it, but it is real. All the best of luck to you.

My doctor told me you can only have a false negative but never a false positive. I can only tell you after taking 7 pregnancy test (and spending a lot of money) I could not believe it either but the first and 7th test all said the same thing and 13 months later I have a wonderful baby boy. I was not sick with my son at all so do not put to much hype into the not feeling sick part I only got a sick feeling when the toothbrush went to far back.

When you see the scan pictures, it will become real. At the moment, all you have is a stick showing positive, but nothing else, so you are bound to feel this way. Also, as your pregnancy is obviously a wanted one, you feel that you don't want anything going wrong and you are already so protective of the little being inside you - a sign of a good mother. All the best and congratulations!!

I know what you mean it didnt seem real until the first time my baby moved inside of me then it was like wow or the first time you see the sonogram its hard to believe that there is a form of life inside your tummy. But maybe when you get the first sonogram or the baby moves then reality will hit

For me with my oldest daughter it wasnt real until I seen the sonogram
and with my second pregnancy right now it didnt seem real until I felt her move and I am still thinking this is unreal and I am 36 weeks now and it hasnt hit and I think its because I got pregnant so soon after my first was born

Im sure many first time mothers feel this way. I think once you go to your widwives visit and get to hear the heartbeat than you will know just how real it is. Just stay calm and rely on the fact that although you can easily get a false negative it is very rare for you to get a false positive so congrats.

maybe because you wanted to be pregnant so badly and you got the test result that you wanted your afraid to enjoy it or believe it cause then what if it was a mistake and your not pregnant you'd be so disappointed but chances are if your test came back positive your pregnant! when I was pregnant with my daughter I didn't believe it either I kept feeling like I was going to get my period I was convinced the the test was wrong until I went to my checkup and heard her heartbeat then I knew it was real and soon you will too!! congratulations!! wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy and baby!!

I think that you want this baby so much that you are too scared to believe it. I am sure you will feel different after you have seen the midwife and she confirms that you are pregnant. The feelings of elation will come then. Congratulations I hope everything goes well.

Probably denial and dread about having to do it all again!

I remember I was like that with my daughter- I took two tests but was still expecting the sonographer to tell me I wasn't pregnant when I went for my 12 week scan.
Give it time, sweetie, you'll feel better about it soon.
Good luck!

If you took a test and it was positive most likely you're pregnant, tests hardly ever give a "false positive". Maybe you're just overwhelmed, or need some medical reassurance, it's understandable not to want to believe the home test.

Congratulations!

You may want to take another pregnancy test to mentally & emotionally reconfirm it or take another one closer to the end of the week to give yourself reassurance.

Perhaps it's that you won't feel it's real until you've "officially" heard it and had it confirmed by a health care professional.
