my machine is far too small ,wondering if laundermats have big enough machines....or any other hints welcome

Yes, laundromats have triple loaders...made for three loads. Use that for your comforter, and use a gentle setting, cold water. As for drying, again, gentle and cool. May take a long time to dry but you wouldn't want to ruin your comforter.

The best way to wash an oversized comforter is using a front loading washer or send it to a cleaner and have it done for you. Using a cleaner usually will only cost 5 or six dollars.

You are not supposed to wash feather comforters. Yes some laundry mats have extra large capacity washers. It would be better to find a dry cleaner that does feathers and will guarantee their work.

I have a Whirlpool duet front loader machine. It handles my queen size down comforter fine.

Laundermat should be fine. Just don't wash it any more than absolutely necessary. It traditionally is made for 'airing' and that's it.

Laundromats have machines that are bin enough to handle king size comforters, so your queen sized would not be a problem. :)

Go to a laundymat where they have those oversized washer just for this purpose
