I recently learned how to realize I was dreaming, but I had no control over the dream. I simply wasn't afraid to move around in my dream world and do the things that were required of me. But I couldn't control the terrible things that were happening. I had to adjust to them as I would in real life. How can I control what happens? How can I fly in my dream?

I've been writing everything down, and remembering every detail. But I can't stop and smell the roses, so to speak. I can't stop and think in my dream in order to get control of the situation. HOw do I do this?

I eventually want to have a conversation with my subconscious and be able to change things in my life, i.e. habits, personality problems, etc.

You already know what it's like to lucid dream-you've done it. Lucid dreaming is just being aware what's happening is (not was) a dream. Dream control is not lucid dreaming; they are two different things. You can control things in your dream without being aware that it's a dream.

To change your dream scene when you're in a lucid dream, spin around in your dream while telling yourself what you want. You'll also want to keep in mind that it's a dream as you're spinning; it's easy to forget when you change your scene. Dream spinning is one of the most common ways to change your dream scene. Other common ways are to go through the door or around the corner. I've had several times I couldn't do something at first, but I told myself (a few times even) that I knew it was a dream and usually succeeded. It helps to often think of what you want to do when you have a lucid dream while you're awake. It took me several times to remember that I wanted to fly.

All you really need is practice and an open mind. Read upon some methods. Most websites I've come across addresses at least some of them. The W.I.L.D (Wake Initiated Lucid Dream) method is, as Lucid Crossroads puts it, the holy grail of lucid dreaming. Great way of putting it. Whatever methods you try just make sure you occasionally try this one. It's worth it.

You can control it to some extent. I've never tried to talk to my subconcsious. You may find it to be somewhat ... reptilian... and not wise at all. Just a word of warning.

I've started flying or changed things around a little, but I didn't have full access to my free will to pick exactly what was going on.
