The word percent means per 100. So for example, 17% = 17/100. What if the percentage has a decimal in it? It still works the same way. For example, 17.5% = 17.5/100. We can multiply top and bottom by 10 to get 175/1000.

I'll explain it in detail simply:
% means per 100, so 15% as a fraction is 15/100. To simplify the fraction you need to find the highest number that goes into both 15 and 100; that's 5. Then you see how many times 5 goes into 15 and 100. 3 times into 15 and 20 times into 100. Answer 3/20. So 3/20 is the same as 15%. To check: 1 twentieth of 100 is 5, so 3 twentieths are 15.

All percents are over 100 so 6% is 6/100 and 56% is 56/100. However you will want to reduce it to the lowest possible fraction. 50% or 50/100 is not in lowest terms. You must find a number that both the numerator (top number) and denominator (bottom number) are divisible by. In the case of 50/100 it is 50. Meaning 50/50=1 and 100/50=2 So reduced its 1/2. So:
50% = 50/100 =1/2
Lets try another one. 66% = 66/100. The can both be divided by 2, So it would be 33/50.
Quite simple really.

By definition, percentages are parts per 100, therefore make a fraction with the percent over 100, then simplify.
20% = 20/100 = 1/5

Just place the percentage over 100. for example, 53% = 53/100
If simplifying can be done, then do it, it is advisable.
For Example: 25% = 25/100 = 1/4
Hope that Helped! =)
