no, there are people who don't have access to the media in several parts of the world.
Really "caring" may not have anything to do with it. I think it's more like passing road kill, you look to see what it was (decide the appropriate level of sympathy, depending on whether it's an opossum or a kitten, a rat or a deer), then drive on. Doesn't change your life, but you glance at it in passing anyway - morbid curiosity.
