My cousion had discovered that is pregnant with her boyfriend of about 1 month,(she was on the pill) she isn't sure if it's his or somone elses, she has already got another child to another man, her boyfriend at the min has told her that he will stand by her whatever she decides, but she doesn't think that he will.

I spoke to her a little while ago and she is going to have an abortion she is going to the doctors tomorrow, to see if she can take a tablet as she want to get it over with asap as she feels really bad but i'm a little concerned about the fact she doesn't know how far gone she is, would the doctor give her the tablet if she was unsure? i know that after a certain point during pregnancy you will have to have an abortion in hospital, i'm also worried what would happen to her if she took the tablet to abort and she was too far gone to do this and also what will happen if she takes the tablet like will it make her ill as she intends to go back to work after. Thanks xx

i have been reading some of the answers and it is sad how so many of you pass such judgments. if a woman wants an abortion than she has the right. if you have not been in that type of situation, than you have no idea what she is going through. she needs to get the correct info from her dr.

For the RU-486 pill (abortion pill) not to work, she's have to be very far along, like over 4 months.

The deal with the pill is that you have to take it once and then again a 12 hrs or a day later. Once it's taken, your body will abort the fetus any time within the net three days. She should try to take it on a thursday, and then take friday (and the weekend) off from work.

Where it's unpredictible, she'll want to stay home and have no plans to go anywhere (not to mention that it's an emotional eperience - who could focus at work while waiting for this to happen?!?)

You shouln't worry, though. It sounds like she'll be fine if she just follows the doctor's orders.

You need to google abortion because there is a very lot of info on the Internet. Okay she made a mistake and now she is pregnant. Abortion is an option to terminate a pregnancy and not a type of birth control. I am totally against abortions so I will tell you what I personally think.

First of all she shouldn't of been having sex with a guy that she has only be dating/seeing for about a month.

Second is that she already has a child by a different man. What will she tell her child now that she is pregnant. "oh I killed your brother/sister because mommy is little un ready for you to have a playmate." Does she know that when there is two that things are a lot better and easier. They keep each other occupied. She is a mother already and that proves that she can be a mother of two kids.

Try the address below and there is tons of info there to maybe help you talk some sense into her but please do it fast.

Abortion is MURDER no way around it. abortion is killing a living thing/baby. There is a baby that will have to pay the consequences for HER mistakes. It isn't fair to the baby.

Look she cant be that far along if the doc is giving her a pill. Now views aside no one here can judge her not even you.She knows he wont be there and with her not knowing who the dad is it may be right for her. They have only been together a month so no she may only be at the most 5-7 weeks along. The pill works fine and she'll be able to go to work. She will have cramping later that evening and pass clots that's all.I know this form working with GYN's who prescribe these pills. They consider this like a morning after pill.

It is highly unlikely that a doctor would give her the pill if she is too far along. They usually do a sonogram to check gestational age before they prescribe the drug. It doesn't always work tho, so she may wind up needing a surgical abortion anyway. Going back to work afterwards is a bad idea, as someone mentioned above, the drug's side effects are unpleasant.

Is the doctor reputable? My best friend had to have a procedure done-not take a pill- for an abortion at only a few weeks of pregnancy, however this was 10 or so years ago. She still cries about it.

Relax, if she goes to a real medical doctor they will figure out how far along she is, and tell her whether or not she can have the pill. They don't just leave things like that to chance.
She can expect to be unable to keep food down for a few days; it's a very very aggressive drug. They say it creates a "hostile environment" in the womb...it does all of that...it also makes you as sick as a dog.
I'm wondering how she got pregnant on the pill. She needs to learn to be more responsible with her sexuality.

She needs to go to Planned Parenthood. They can answer all of these questions for her. They have a pill that you can take all the way through the Third month that will cause the fetus to abort.

This decision is hers. Not anyone elses. She should decide what is best for the unborn and herself. But she also needs to be more careful. A boyfriend of a month is not someone you should be sleeping with unprotected.

I don't agree with abortion, but if your cousin feels that she cannot trust the boyfriend to stay with her and she already has another child then she has to think what is best for her and her child.

If she is too far on the abortion pill will not work.

As for everything else she is best talking to her doctor, heath visitor or go to a Wellwoman Clinic who will give her all the advice she needs to make a decision on whether to keep her baby or not.

Depending on the doctor your cousin goes to, he may not give her the abortion pills if she is uncertain of what she really wants to do. I know most family doctors in my area do not provide this kind of service and she may have to go to a clinic to have the procedure done.
