My best friend just sent out the invitations for the baptism of her firstborn. I'm going, but i don't really know what to wear. she said "slacks and a nice shirt" but i don't know what slacks are.
also, am i supposed to bring a gift for little jimmy?

i don't go to church, have never attended any type of formal event, and never had a party at dinner..

Slacks would be a nice pair of dress pants. Such as a navy or black pair with a nice long sleeved button down collared shirt. As for the gift, I don't know the etiquette on that. I'm baptist so I chose my own time to get baptized and we wear whatever and don't do gifts. Good Luck!

Slacks means no jeans. Wear a nice pair of dress pants, or you could even do a nice little skirt and sandle thing. If you're a guy, just no jeans! Khakis and a dress shirt should suffice. And yes, you are supposed to bring a gift for little Jimmy. Savings bonds are a good idea. You can get them at your local bank.

I would wear a skirt and nice shirt or a casual dress. Slacks would be nice black or brown pants. Dressier than jeans or khakis. Also, it is normal etiquette to bring a gift for the baptism.

Since you will be in a church, dress decently, but casually (i.e. skirt/dress, dress pants, dress top). Slacks are only dress pants. As for the gift, it would be nice to take a small gift for the child (nothing extravagant), but I wouldn't say it's required.

wear something with the color white and wear a nice descent shirt and dressing pants!! Ur going into church so dress descent!!

slacks are really nice pants.As far as i know of,you're are not supposed to get presents.For the shirt where a black and white striped shirt.(vertical stripes)
