Its in B&W, and is set during WW2, in the North African desert.
Its about a bomber crew that has been shot down and the 6 blocks are stuck next to the crashed plane. They are all just killing time waiting to be rescued, playing cricket on a day. It's at the end you find out that they all died in the crash and it is there ghosts were at the plane, and they start to disapear one by one when there remaines are found years later. At the very end there is only one lad left, his body was never found and now he is stuck all on his own. I seen it about 20 years ago at least. Probabley never see it again. Can anyone help...

This film is called flight of the phoenix. For some reason I think Jimmy Stewart was in it, but I'm not sure. It was re-made in the last 2 years.

OK for the bonehead who just gave me a thumbs down, I've just gone and done a search on Yahoo and here's a link. Say it isn't bl**dy so!

Sounds like "Sole Survivor". The movie ends with the fact that his body will be found. I liked the film

The original version of the movie "Sole Survivor" there was a remake done in color in about 1963, and another done in 2002. None of them have been as good as the original in my opinion.

I was just thinking of that film the other day!! Can't remember what it was called though, either. I saw it once when I was a kid, and have never seen it again.

I do not think this is it, but sounds similar -
Twighlight Zone (TOS) Season 2 "King Nine will not Return".

May be worth a look.
