My sister was molested 30 years ago when she was 6 by a relative - my dad beat the crap out of him, but did not call the police. We lost touch with his family but I have recently found out that he is now a respected professor of education at a well known university and has teenage children. I feel like telling someone that he should not be around children or adults. What would you do?

You run a thin line with slander, especially if he has put the incident behind him. Discuss it with the police first to see if anything can be done

If you start saying stuff now you could be sued unless you have proof. Since no one reported it to the police 30 years ago this guy was free to molest for the past 30 years. Theres a statute of limitations also. Your dad blew it.

Speak to your sister - it is never too late to go to the police. I agree - a leopard never changes his spots and I suspect that this was not an isolated incident (never is) and that he probably has left a trail of other victims in his wake..

Interested that you used the term 'respected professor' because to me the profession is no mask to whether someone can be a child molestor or not.. so whether someone is a judge, doctor, policeman, social worker etc all means little to me as I see them as male first and their profession second.. hence why child molestors are known in every class of society, in every profession etc..

Best of luck - I hope that your sister has found peace and that he finally gets brought to justice.

These people do not change, so you can be sure he is still offending.

Does your sister feel like going to the police now? A letter to his dean might contain useful information.

I think I would try and get more factual info on his life style before I accused him, remember the criminal has more protection than the victim, so be cautious while putting that info out.

I would tell his wife! He deserves to relive the past as I am sure from time to time your sister has to relive her molestation. Child molesters should all be shot!

It might be that he changed his ways, but you shold be more safe than sorry. Tell the school and such, and warn other females about him.
