Years ago, when I used to party hearty and smoke weed, I bought a bag from a friend before a party we were going to.
We smoked a little to get going, and I rolled the baggie up and put it in my pocket. There were 7 nice-sized buds that made up the bag.
However, once at the party, I opened the baggie only to find 6 nice-sized buds instead of the 7.
No one held onto it but me. No, I didn't get so stoned that I might've forgot, because my buddy verified I wasn't mistaken either. No, 2 buds didn't stick together, either.
I chalked it up as "bud gremlins" taking a toll for their own use.

The stuff I bought was called "W.O.G." - "Weed of the Gods" - by my friend; it was that good.
That's why I figured a tribute was taken.
That brass pipe story is a good one. I can see it happening.

My family (mom, bro & me) used to have this problem ALL the time. We called our little gremlin the 'Lerxst' (after something in a song by Rush-remember them?). Anyway, one memorable incident goes like this:
My mom had a little brass hash pipe she used to carry in her car (this was in the mid 80's). One day, it just...disappeared. We wondered about it for months...probably three or four months, I think. One night that summer, I had a party. We had a downstairs bathroom that had a little door to the hot water heater, and one of my friends came out of the bathroom with the pipe in hand, saying 'I just found this wedged between that little door in your bathroom'. Weird, huh? Obviously, we would have seen it if it had been lying there for any amount of time, yet it just showed up this one night?! We used to have a lot of that at our house. Anyway, the good thing about it was, whatever had gone missing would usually show up just around the time you needed it the most...so maybe your missing bud will show up one day when things are really dry around town!

I have had things come up missing lots of times sometimes I recover them and sometimes I don't.I usually find them placed somewhere I know I would never put them. I just figured it was my family slowly trying to drive me insane, but I like your gremlin idea alot better!!

Yeah, those pesky imps are always stealing from me and moving things around too. People tell me that I'm being absent minded and moving things but I know the truth!
