they are costly, but, its isn't the shop you go to, its the hairstylist, ask for references

This happened to me as well before. I only asked for a relaxer and a trimming which is usually ~$65 but I had a new stylist that one day, and I ended up paying over 100 dollars! It turned out they had charged me for a deep conditioner, and a full cut when I just wanted the ends clipped, and all this other stuff I didnt even ask for. JC Penney has a great salon; if you go back just make sure to make it clear what you want and dont want done so they cannot charge you extra for things you didnt want. I hate how they do that to people..

I've had both good and bad luck at my local JC Penney. I've ended up with some great cuts and colors, but then again, the worst damage that was ever done to my hair was done at the same salon. So I'd say it's like any other salon, it all depends on the person you go to. Check out they stylists first before going. Prices are comparable.

The Penneys in Spotyslvania Va where I went to did an excellent job. I got layers and soft hi-lites. But it's very very pricey. I paid $120 and my hair is chin-length. Ouch! good luck though!

Taken ( the girl above me) had a very nice experience with JC Penny's salon, but I didn't. I honestly believe it has to do with the location of the store. I would never trust someone unless I loved someones hair-cut and they referred me to them.
