Those "lesser" nationsare built on foreign debt, the USA has "loaned" them most of their economy through the World Bank.
They are paying back this money at an interest rate greater than their GDP.
This is counted as an asset to the USA and the poorer countries will remain that way.

funny .. all the foreigners i met never complained about the US being prosperous and powerful ... in fact they love the thought of the good life and money as much as anyone else .. they hate us because of our foreign policy and they see many things much better and more clearly than fat pink americans getting spoonfed propaganda on the tv every night ... they see america meddling in their affairs and causing death and destruction to further american interests at their expense ... they dont envy us .. they like our money and thats it .. americans are pompous and if you travel outside the US for awhile then come back its very clear .

who complains about the USA? the people burning your flag in the Middle East? so if you don't know why they're burning your flag you have a bigger problem - and shouldn't be making assumptions about the rest of the world.
other than that. it's the people of the world, not nations that complain about your USA and its International tactics. p.s - we also don't like people like you and your rediculous assumptions that countries are jealous of you. money, okay, but you can keep that to yourself.

Some of it is likely envy, yes. But some of it is that we meddle. We meddle and manipulate. End of story.
