Do you believe the end of the world is near?

Question

I thought the end of the world was near before from a lot of information and I thought about the false peace. Finally, I know that no one knows the date of the end of the world, but don't the events cooincide with Revelation? The Mayans back in B.C. said the world would end in the year 2012... What do you think? If at all possible, back up your information.

The best estimate is that Earth will end when the Sun expands into a red giant. That will be at least 5,000,000,000 years in the future. Revelation applied to the time of Nero, not now. Revelation and Mayan tales are fantasy, not reality, so pay no heed to them. Science is much more reliable.

I can't back this up with information. My mother was into being a Jehovahs witness once upon a time.She was always trying to brainwash me with revelations,even now she says we are living in the time of the end.She says we are living in revelations,for example floods at the end - the tsunami,floods in different parts of the countries.Also warned me if a world leader ever spoke the words Peace and Security it meant the end of the world.I disowned her 6 months ago.Totally nuts.

all i know & have read is the popul vuh, the mayan calender is the most accurate calender they have found. thepopul vuh is full of writings of the end of the world in 2012.. one can only hope they are mistaken. but the mayans were very advanced & talked about beings from another planet who will come back & judge us.

I would never let myself worry about the world ending every day. . .how could you enjoy life. . .if it happens, it happens, and there is nothing you could do about it anyway. Don't dwell on such things, enjoy life today.

I think it will be in our life time, but 'theologians' and such have been saying it's 'near' for hundreds of years.
