Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only person who gets irritated by that!

I agree with Carrie on the crossing thing too...
Hate it when you're stood at the crossing having pushed the button and someone else comes along and pushes it. Like they don't trust you to have done it properly! Or thought that maybe you hadn't even pushed it at all and didn't understand how crossings work!
It drives me mental!

It is indeed annoying. Just as it is annoying the way in which people will press the button at a light controlled zebra crossing although you've already done so and the light shows that you have done so. (Probably the same lot who ring the bell again in the bus!) Although I suppose that this is preferable to having everybody standing there dumbly with nothing happening because it hasn't occurred to anyone to take any action.

The same reason as they stand at the pelican crossing pressing and pressing the button even though it is not going to make the green man appear any faster.

They are possibly the same ones who press a buzzer on a block of flats until you answer instead of using it like a doorbell.

I love pressing the bell. Just love it.

PS in London, if they're pressing it repeatedly in succession, they're saying to the driver 'open the damn doors already'.

Learn how to tolerate people or get off the bus. I think your last idea is the best but unless there is only one exit door you wouldn't be able to enforce it.

It's nothing like as good as the old days when they had the cord along the bottom deck of the old double-deckers. Now that was a great sound!

This happens in Aberdeen also. It really gets on my nerves.
