You can also send an email to a phone (which receives it as a text message) by typing in the phone's email address...each carrier has a different one like phonenumber@tmomail.net (T-Mobile) or phonenumber@vmobl.com (Virgin). You'd have to call the carrier or ask your friends for their address.
