Well there are a few options. One thing you should never do is drink milk before you sing. I heard that it is really bad for you. Also, try to suck your stomach in and push out the notes with your diaphram. You might also want to get a singing lesson also. But, hot water helps to drink before you sing. You might also consider drinking olive oil. I know, it sounds disgusting but it really does help to improve your voice. I hope that this helps =). Good luck in your drama class, and remember, DON'T DRINK ANY MILK!!!!!

Some of the worlds most famous and successful singers had voices that were not all that good. Many professional singers regard Billy Holiday as having had a not very good voice but the emotion and feeling she put into her singing made her great. Louis Armstrong, Lee Marvin, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Howlin" Wolf and Johnny Cash all sounded rough but they were all great singers. It's not what you got it's what you do with it.
Find a song that really suits your vocal range and style, it really makes a huge difference. Learn the song until the lyrics are second nature and you feel good about it, if you feel good about a particular song you sing it will show in your voice and performance. Practise in public if at all possible, it makes a difference. You can get books and DVD's on how to sing from many public libraries. Almost anyone can sing, it's just a case of learning how and finding the right song.

To learn how to sing better you can find some course online. Try this http://improvesinging.keysolve.net it's the best online course! These are the main point to improve to sing better: 1. Breathing 2. Pitching (keeping in tune) 3. Articulation (especially for karaoke, it's important that you sing clearly as you would speak clearly- like remembering to finish words like 'Want' with an accented 't' sound at the end 4. Texturisation (this involves using dynamics in your voice to go louder and softer, more raspy then whispery to paint a textured picture journey along the way of the song!) For you some tips: -Find a song which you can sing before you go. If you could let me know your gender, how good you are at singing, and whether you have a deep or high voice I'll be happy to recommend a few for you -Take DEEP breaths during breaks in the song. Use any gaps to take in as much air as possible. Air is your bullets, your voice is your gun. ill the gun with the biggest, baddest bullets for best effects. But don't breath into the microphone! -Don't get too drunk before you sing- even if nervous. If you stay sober, bear in mind you'll sound better anyway because other people might be under the influence! -Make sure you use your WHOLE mouth to make the words sound clear. Don't mumble through tight lips. Practice making 'oooh' sounds and 'aaah' sounds and 'eeee' sounds into a mirror. See what your mouth wants to do instinctively. -Practice, Practice, Practice before the event so you'll know the song inside out. Don't get cocky though- you're nerves might throw you a bit so always keep an eye on the screen. Karaoke tracks might even be written differently to the original! -Have fun, and don't take yourself too seriously. People who take themselves seriously at karaoke are never liked as much as people who know they aren't as good, but put in an effort to try their best. It's a case of the underdog winning every time.

Hey p'tit ruxi,
First, stop thinking you don't have a nice voice. With proper coaching even Bob Dylan can sing.
Below is a bunch of sites in a Search URL, that provide Computer software that can help you.
If you feed back 1 tenth of a second into your own ear, you can hear yourself sing - and make corrections. It is important for you to hear yourself - because you can get a feel for your own voice.

You could try singing lessons. But singing in tune and key is generally something you can or cannot do, and cannot be taught.
You need to have some natural talent. Don't worry, concentrate on your acting and you'll be fine.

I've always heard that good singers breathe from the diafragm, which I think is placed somewhere just below your rib cage. It is helpful in learning to control the notes that come out. Jus typed singing tips into yahoo search engine, there are lots of sites available. Practice makes perfect!
