Bought new from dealer in 2000 (W reg.), had all services at regular intervals and MOTs. Only 37,000 miles on clock. Was never advised that timing belt should be renewed when car was 5 years old. Now it has snapped and will cost well over £1k to repair.
Have I got grounds for redress from Renault ?

No, regular maintance is your problem. I dont think that fact that it snapped is much of an issue. I think it would cost the same if it was worn and had to be replaced. Your mechanic should have checked it, if you ever taken it in.

Is it Renaults fault you didn't read the owners manual?
