you are society , you are a member of society , which is basically a group of people and yes we ned other people to survive
the worst part of society is that people do not know their true worth or love themselves enough, this is the source of our societal ills, if their were no society there would be no people or nomads who lived in isloation and never as groups so very few of us would survive the planet might be better off as the environment would not have been destroyed by industrialization

Society is a collection of people with whom we surround ourselves. The greater society is, of course, the world, then our country and so on until we get down to our friends. The opinions and laws of these various societies mostly govern our lives, by law or by the way these various societies react to us personally and our actions. The worst things about society are that there may be those who do not question the rules imposed by society and just accept them as being right. One should always question any rules, even those of religion, is it really moral, is it really the best solution to a problem. The best things in society are the way in which we look out for each other and keep violence from escalating out of control, as it would if left unchecked. Some societies go steps further and look out for health and welfare of their people as well. What would it be like without society, well, there never has been a time when there was absolutely no society, not even in the cave man days but I am reasonably sure it would be very basic, kill or be killed, survival of the fittest or meanest. With all its faults, yes, we do need society, and we need to be actively involved in the decision making process to make sure things don't get out of control with the decision makers. Checks and balances should rule the day.

Society is a group of people stuck with one another. If if were all that great we wouldn't have one group becoming ar*sed with one or more other.
The worst part is the irresponsible people within a given society, from criminals to those who don't give a damn for anything but themselves and their mates (Note American Republican Politicians as an example), as well as the neighbors next door.
The best thing is the most, the majority who may not agree on all issues but who do care.
Without society I suspect anarchy would exist. Things would be much like the stone age with warring.
Until we come up with something better, we are stuck with society and its rules. Otherwise, there would be little control, little of anything to make for a qualiy life.

You're probably too young to remember when the dreaded Mrs Thatcher said there was no more society... I'm old enough to remember the feeling of dread when she said it and that feeling still holds true today. To me a society is a collective of people who care about others, who work towards a common goal (even if that goal is personal gain), who value the young and the old as well as just the beautiful and the powerful and who are tolerant of everyone's differences - maybe I have a utopian dream of a perfect world, but it's what we lack today.

In living together we find our individual selves. We know ourselves in relation to other people around us. Without them we would be totally and utterly lost. This is a paradox that we seek in togetherness what we need for personally, and then what we find in solitude we like to share in company. A good society is somewhere that facilitates all these things - a place or people where deeply held beliefs, conviction and preferences are recognised, valued and celebrated through cultural and tradition. We also need social life for the fulfilment of our needs of recognition and sense of belonging to some people, and somewhere.
In our modern times however, the revolution in information technology has widened our perspective of human societies. There is shift in our attitude toward life. We have stared to question the validity of centuries old practices more than ever. As we are more likely to live isolated lives, as we have all the means available to us for doing so. The concepts like dispersed organisations and virtual communities are well in place. People can now interact with their colleagues and friend without having to be physically present under a single roof.
The notions of collective mind, collective intelligence and collective consciousness have starting to emerge ever so more frequently in the minds of modern thinkers. They are in fact innate to human mind and have always been present in our consciousness in one form or the other. The ancient folklore and myths, modern heroes and fictitious characters, are all but manifestation of collective human psyche. This is what we want to be, if not individually and personally then many be collectively and mutually.
The relevance of our individual conscious mind to the real world immediately around us is however unquestionable, it is likely to hold it grounds for the foreseeable future in sight. We cannot stand or tolerate anything that is socially irrelevant or unrecognisable however brilliant it may be in an individual mind, not yet at lest.

Society is a myth. Society "dictates" too many things. Social power is damaging our "society." Such as: body image. Why do we care so much about how others see us?
Unfortunately, there will always be "society" because humans are social creatures. It's a catch 22.

We are here to experience society, otherwise we would have no need of it. Society to me is any group of people that gather in a comman spot and share with each other what they are aware of. The disadvantage of course is when there are too many people gathering crime rises. The advantage of society when its is at its best is the way it will help each other in any needs that need to be taken care of.
