that's my main choice for an engagement ring (my boyfriend is sweet and letting me pick it out!!), but one of my friends said "EW" when i said i wanted marquis. most popular are princess and round...
anyway, is that an "old" looking diamond or is it okay? i'm 21. i just think it looks old depending on the type of ring!!! what's your opinion?!?

Your friends will change over the years, but the love that the ring represents will be there for as long as the two of you are together (and I hope that your upcoming marriage will be a long and happy one).
So what if it's old fashioned?
My engagement ring was bought by my husband when he was a senior in high school. It was a 2nd hand ring, but that doesn't matter to me. What I care about is what it represents: the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, cared enough to give the best that he could afford as a commitment towards me. We've been married now for 17 years and I don't want a different engagement ring. Mine is unique and it has special meaning to me.
Fashions will change over the years, so that marquis style may very well be back in style in a few years. So, go with what you want and don't worry if your best friend says "ew" (does SHE have an engagement ring??)
It sounds like you have a wonderful guy and congratulations to you on a wonderful future together.

Your friend said "ew" because marquis and pear shaped diamonds just aren't fashionable right now and can look kind of dated. Most women I know with rings of those cuts got engaged in the late 70s, early 80s. But, like everyone else has said here, you should choose something you love because YOU'RE the one who is going to be wearing it everyday for the rest of your life, not them. Good luck!

A diamond ring will be yours to cherish for the rest of your life... you go girl and pick whichever design YOU like. You'll be the one to look at in on your finger everyday and admire it, not your friends. I think marquis are totally gorgeous!!! Congratulations :)

I love a marquis style, so beautiful and catches the light so well. I think you should go with the style you like, after all its your ring not your friend's.

Whatever shape of diamond "YOU" like and feel great about wearing you wear! It doesn't matter that other people think the shape is "OLD". It is not old it is classic just like round shape. maximum diamond engagement jewelry are tremendously lots the comparable form IMO. the only form i think of is a little extra unusual is a chop up shank ring. yet you are going to have a confusing time looking a a million/2 carat ring for under $900. while you're on that form of funds i might advise being extra unique than having a diamond and bypass with a gemstone engagement ring. in case you decide on something with a sparkling stone, decide for white topaz, yet to be unique and various decide for a coloured stone (I actual have an aquamarine & like it!)

Marquis ring is a beautiful style of ring....I have one and my husband bought it for me 22 years ago....if thats the style that you want, get it. Dont let anyone change your mind!!

You are the one that is going to be wearing that ring for years to come. Pick the one you like the most and to heck with what everyone else thinks except for possibly taking your boyfriend's opinion slightly into account.
You should pick it on what you like, not what everyone else likes.

A marquis is what I wanted.They will never go out of style.Always remember if it is your ring and that is what you like .That is all that matters.
