If we are talking about public schools, I don't believe a madatory uniform is right.
For private schools, it is acceptable.

Yes, your right to have an education. Uniforms equalize students. Everyone looks the same, so no one is judged by their clothes. Also, when a student puts on a school uniform, the attitude that goes with it is a going to school to learn attitude. When students can wear whatever they want, they get an attitude that matches the clothing. Thus Emo, Goth, Rocker, Punk, Prep or whatever attitudes are in the classroom messing up learning opportunities.
Wear the uniform, and get the most out of your education. There is plenty of time to dress how you want after school.

Just about any place you work you will have some kind of uniform dress code, and several actually do ware uniforms, Dr and Nurses in hospitals have had dress codes for years right down to the Jewry they were and how they have their fingernails.
Get use to it. Rebellion is for Kids! Uniforms are for Police, fire men, medics and other professionals.

I'm assuming you're at a public school when I write this:
The public school system is provided to you for free by the people who pay taxes. If they vote on school uniforms, then you can either go to a private school that doesn't make you wear them (you find one, let me know) or you can just be grateful that you're getting a free (though it is crappy) education. The uniform, I admit, does take away your ability to express yourself, but if you really cared about learning anything, you'd realize that unique clothes distract from the learning process. Imagine not having to worry about what you're going to wear everyday. Imagine not having to worry that what you're wearing is going to be out of style or made fun of by someone else.
If you don't like it, get involved and speak to your community about it. That would really show your community that you're actually learning something, since you'd be able to speak in public intelligently, and you might get enough other people involved so that you can change it. You're not being forced to wear it. You either choose to wear it and choose not to stand up to it, or you choose to stand up and make yourself heard. If no one ever hears that the students don't like the uniforms, how are they ever supposed to know?

the school uniform is a good thing. I have three girls and the uniform situation has saved countless hours of complaining about what their going to wear. and there is no completion at school with other children about who's wearing what? So they can concentrate on friendship building and school work. And it gives them a better sense of life and self esteem.

i dont know where kids get the idea that they have "rights" in school, i hate to use the term bleeding heart liberals, but the school system is in enough of a mess just trying to teach kids to read, much less letting them "nurture their creativity". There have been a lot of programs tried, most of them seem to be tried in california first, which has a horrible track record for education. You wouldnt know what to do with "rights", you couldnt handle them
