I would suggest the Nissan Murano or the Toyota Sequia. The Nissan would probably be cheaper since it is a little smaller.

Mazda Tribute. When looking at vehicles, this was probably my favorite SUV to drive. It's basically the same as a Ford Escape (same company), but there was a lot less road noise in the Mazda than the Ford. The Escape was cheaper, but the noise would have gotten to me. I had a Pontiac Vibe which my ex swore was an SUV (I think he's insane, it's a wagon!), and that wasn't too bad to drive. I don't think I'd want to drive it long distances though. The Saturn Vue also looks pretty good, but I haven't driven one, so I don't feel comfortable recommending it.

Not sure if you are looking new or used?
I would recommend the Honda Element. I own it and love it. At the very least, test drive it and let the dealer show you its versatility.
If you are partial to Ford or domestic, definitely consider the Escape....good SUV for the money.

I also have a Mustang that I will be storing for the winter next week.

I suggest a Mazda Tribute, its a cheap yet sturdy car, not very big, but yet still big enuff for a heaping size of a family. Also its a gas saver, it doesnt use all that much gas. Besides this is from a kids point of view.

I just purchase a Hyundai Sante Fe and I love it!!!! You honesly can't go wrong with this SUV since it has THE BEST warranty around. 100,000 or ten years. Check for when they go on sale (usually around a holiday) you will save at least three grand on it. I got mine fully loaded for less than 20,000.

Hope this info helps....Good Luck!

I was very happy with my Jeep Grand Cherokee for 12 years. Now I have a Ford Explorer and am totally happy with it.
