could the ammonia smell be from urine? I would take him to the doctor honestly if it doesn't seem like he is getting any better or is getting dehydrated. I know when my son is teething his poop smelled terrible. However if she is throwing up alot and her urine is very concentrated due to lack of not keeping liquids down it could be from that.

I would call a doctor and ask him or her for advice and if they want you to bring her in that is what I would do.

Good luck--Jammie Girl

Formula fed babies poop definitely is stinkier that breastfed. But, I would not call it a sweet smell. I would say breastfed baby poop smells a little like "fresh baked bread". YUCK!!! I can't believe I compared poop to that but it really does, I think.

The ammonia smell is the urine. If the smell is that strong, it means the baby needs much more hydration. Water. Lots of water will dilute the urine. If you are really concerned, call the doctor. When kids are sick you must make sure they are drinking, not just having a bottle or sippy in their hands. Water is best or Pedialyte.
